Virtual Living Space: The Monterey Home

Good Evening Everyone,

I am going to take a little break from fashion blogs this evening and share a little on-going project I have been working on. I got a new Maven Homes and have been slowly decorating it as found pieces I thought would would fit in with how I wanted to decorate it. It's still a bit of a work in progress but I would love to share with you what I have done so far.

The Monterey Home is the newest release from Maven Homes. Maven homes are spectacular creations. They are always well laid out, fabulously textured, and full of character. You can see the past two Maven Homes I have featured here: Skwer & Wakefield. The Monterey Home (L$4,490) is a single floor home with vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, large wrap around windows and a roaring fireplace. It has a foot print of 29 m x 48 m and is recommended for a 2.048 sq.m. parcel or larger. It has a land impact of 184.

This luxurious home features a deck, fireplace, kitchen with full set of appliances and a bathroom equipped with a shower and bathroom sink with animated poses. It comes equipped with a home control system that features a security system with radar controls access to house, door controls (lockable doors, doors can be set to open automatically), lighting control (adjustable window tint and opacity, lighting can be turned off, on, or dimmed, light color can be adjusted and an automatic mode adjusts lighting according to sim time of day).

The floor plan is split up into several spacious living spaces: a single bedroom, bathroom, living room, front room, kitchen and dining room.

DECK AREA:

Review of a Second Life Virtual Living Space by Maven Homes.

The front deck spans across front of the house from the entrance to the corner of the bedroom window. The front room has sliding double doors that open out to the deck and front of the house. My deck furniture is made up of pieces from home decor sets from both Kaerri and Circa Living

I fell in love with Kaerri's Hanging Rattan Chair. I was so happy when it fit on the deck. It's modifiable so I was able to stretch out he hanging wire to reach the top of the roof. It is four prims and comes loaded with eleven quality animations.

Circa Living has released a really great SunnySide BBQ set. It includes four chairs with nine animations, Table with table setting menu (seven choices & props and ten color choices for the table cloth), Table decor and Barbecue with six animations, grill food menu and touch to turn on fire or open doors. I love the food and decorations included with this set. The grill looks almost like the one I own in real life, so I couldn't resist putting it out.

The planters on the deck are also by Circa Living. The fern on the deck is part of  the SunnySide Garden Planter set. It is a three planter set that comes with a tree, flower mix and a fern, 2LI each.  The box planters are from the Spring Cafe Topiary Planter Elm Wood set 01 & 02. Each planter set comes with three wood planters in topiary shapes; a long round, round and long cubic shape. The planters are 2-5 LI each.

To go along with the Spring Cafe Topiary Planters, I  put out Circa Living's Spring Cafe Setting Set so I could have a nice casual place to sit and drink my teas. The Spring Cafe Setting sets are available in two color choices a bright floral and a Damask Sold. I put out two chairs from each set to give it a nice eclectic feel. Each set comes with a table, drinks, floral decorations, and chairs with six animation and twelve seat cover colors. Chair is 5LI and Tables are 6-16LI.

ENTRYWAY:

The Country Bushel Planters framing the exterior entryway are another great version of planters by Circa Living. Each flower type is sold separately.

Upon entering the home you are faced with three options, to your left is the Kitchen and dining room, to the right the front room, bedroom, and bathroom and straight ahead is the living room.

Quick mention on the display cases, I am not sure where I found the tall Sanctuary 5th Anniversary Sword Display Case. I must have it picked it up wandering sims. It's pretty cool, it houses a wonderfully detailed sword and has a nice plaque on the front for the Sanctuary RP Community. It was created by Angelic Designs. The small glass encased Rapunzel's Tower is a miniature memento created by Death Row Designs from the 2015 Fantasy Faire. IT is probably one of my favorite accent pieces.

 LIVING ROOM:

Review of a Second Life Virtual Living Space by Maven Homes.

The living room is an large open room with vaulted ceilings featuring exposed beams, a wall of windows and a built in marbleized fireplace. I turned the first corner of the room as a bit of a medication corner. The Tears in Rain - Los Falsos City (Day) painting is part of an art installment that was available at the Fantasy Faire 2015. It was created by Noke Yuitza, artist and co-owner of Alegria Studio.

Circa Living created the "Gossip Dreamer" Bench and rugs. It is loaded with nine poses and available for purchase in three color selections. It comes with bench, decorations, and small striped rug. I had not seen a telephone bench since I was a little kid and we had a party line. I know I just aged myself there. I remember sitting on the bench and slowly lifting up the phone receiver to listen see who was on the phone and if it was interesting to listen to. If it was our land lady I would dial the phone so the rotary would click in her ear over and over till they hung out. Eventually they figured it out and I got grounded for quite a bit and rarely was allowed to sit in the Phone bench.

The Canvas Mediation Cushions, Canvas Yoga & Tai Chi Mat, Mediation Garden Potted Plants and Potted Bamboo Plants are all creations by Roawenwood for the Homeshow 2015The Canvas Meditation Cushions (2LI) includes three cushions in different colors with seven animation. I found a wonderful store featuring creations by Sae Masala on the Marketplace with some amazing
photo frame groupings, perfect for those of us who are snapshot fanatics. The Texture Change Picture Frames over the fire place displays nine photos, has eight wood finishes and is only two prim. It was very easy to drop the photos into the slots. I was really amazed to get such a quality item for such a low price. The purple Woodlore Pillowtop Ottoman by Kismet was a hunt gift from the 2015 Fantasy Faire last month. It came with a purple flower vase which I have setting in the kitchen on the back counter. The Fireplace log rack with logs (5LI) is created by Krystal's Design on the marketplace. It have very nice textures and is good for a nice simple moderate design.

The [DREAM] Love is a Battlefield - Cloud painting is part of an art installment that was available at the Fantasy Faire 2015. It was created by Noke Yuitza, artist and co-owner of Alegria Studio. I love the composition of the words and binary. I enjoy just looking at it, letting my eyes follow the path as it circles. The Equation Shelf is a a gacha item from USB, its four prims. I really love the quirkiness of the shelf. The Jasmine Chaise and Side Console is by Circa Living. The Chaise contains 45 animations and you can turn off the blanket on the chaise by touch if you like.  The cute Birdie Pillows (2LI) are made by Serenity Style

On the far wall I have some older items I acquired that were featured at the African 'stuff  at The 'stuff Lounge in February. The zebra print chair, zebra, palm pot, small side table, African lamp and African mask are all by  Kaerri. really do love their designs.  The Antique World Maps by Nomad are available at We Love Role-play this month, each are 2LI. The Baby Dragon Photo Frame is by Stone's Works. I believe it was a gift from the Fantasy Fair 2015. The Family Tree Wall Frame over the door is by Sae Masala. It is a very low prim object at 2LI. It holds fifteen photos, stands 4 m high and 5.53 m wide. The photos are every easy to install.  Because I had so much room, I also turned part of this room as a sort of den too. I placed Circa Living's  Bali Breeze Yoga & Fitness Mat. For my exterior landscaping I used components from Heart VR, PersnickityLittle Branch, and The Muses

From Heart VR I used components from the  Mountain Pine Forest & Summer Flower Meadow.  It has enough items in it to decorate 1/4 a sim. So I always have fun mixing it up on my smaller plot for my photos. I used Persnickity's  Large Privacy Shrub it is my favorite shrub to use in my landscaping to add a little bit of privacy. I am always on the look out for wonderful landscaping plants. The Muses  great plants available. I used their Wild Thyme Bushes around teh base of the trees in the front of the house.

I turn to Little Branch for a a lot of my landscaping needs. I find they have a great selection with excellent quality texture, along with a great variety.  I used the Bradford Pear Trees and  Red Poppies (Field).  The field of red poppies are  simply spectacular!  The Pear Trees are 100% Mesh realistic tree with easy to use flower color menu changer, Copy-Mod. High detailed bark and leaves with realistic textures , special shape that's looks good from all angles also from the top, no alpha blending. bump maps and spectacular for 100% realistic view.

One of my favorite details is the Jaguar in a Tree by Challis. With a land impact of 15, the resting jaguar  cycles through two animations: a head shake and a head scratch. The animations are random and trigger every 20 to 60 seconds.

And with that we end the the tour. I hope you have seen something you like.

Until the next post take care and have fun in your Second Life adventure!
